American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) has announced the appointment of Seraina Maag as the new Chief Executive Officer and President its (EMEA) region today. She will be joining her new job on November 11, 2013.
She is a known leader with a lot of worldwide experience having held jobs in Europe, the United States, and Australia in commercial insurance underwriting and finance. She has been working for a little more than 20 years. She joins AIG after working as Chief Executive, North American Property & Casualty for the XL group.
In her new job she will be responsible for the insurance businesses in the 47 nations that form part of the EMEA region. She will be located in London and will report directly to Peter D. Hancock, CEO of AIG Property Casualty. She will succeed Nicholas Walsh, who has been serving as the temporary head of the region since April. Mr. Walsh will return to his old job of as Vice Chairman, AIG Property Casualty, and will continue to be on the boards of AIG Europe Ltd., AIG Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, and Tata AIG.
Peter D. Hancock, CEO of AIG Property Casualty, speaking on the new appointment said that he was happy to welcome the new lady to the company. With her excellent experience and good skills as a leader she will prove to be an excellent asset to our company.
Before joining XL Group, Ms. Maag was President of Zurich North America Commercial’s Specialties business unit. She was promoted to the post after she had acted as the divisions temporary Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Maag has also headed Investor Relations and Rating Agencies for Zurich Financial Services in Switzerland. Before joining the Swiss company she was among the founding partners and financial researcher for NZB NeueZuercher Bank in Switzerland.
