Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’S Targets Different Audiences With New E-Reader And Tablet

Boston, MA 09/18/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) introduced a series of new products that include low-end tablet and a high-end e-reader.

High-End e-Reader

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) launched a high-end electronic book reader, claiming that it will give users the closest experience to reading on physical paper. The e-reader, called Kindle Voyage, is the thinnest reader that the company has ever launched. It is made up of a magnesium body and has a flush display of extremely high pixel density. The new product is 39% brighter that it’s older version, Kindle Paperwhite. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) claims that the e-reader is easy on users’ eyes, especially when read in sunlight. Kindle Voyage has a slightly speckled screen texture, imitating high-quality fiber paper. The product is priced at $200, a Wall Street Journal article informed.

Kindle Voyage supports unlimited 3G data connectivity and operates on the same software as Kindle Paperwhite. It however features a new plastic made $80 touch-screen Kindle. The company’s senior vice president, who overlooks the Kindle range of products, David Limp, expects the audience for the high-priced product to shrink, as compared to its previous cheaper versions. He highlighted that the new Kindle e-reader is aimed at e-book lovers, and the company seeks to market it as the best single-purpose device.

Low Range Tablet

Apart from the e-reader, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) also introduced a new tablet, which comes at an easy price of $100. It is a 6 inch HD tablet, called the Fire HD 6 tablet. In addition, the company also unveiled a redesigned Fire HD 7 tablet, which is a 7 inch device, priced at $140. Both the tablets have a screen resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels and a quad-core processor of 1.5 gigahertz. The graphics processors used in the new products are claimed to be three times faster than those in the older versions that were introduced last year. Both the models have front and rear cameras. The company seeks to lure a wider audience for the low-end product.
