Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Tests Delivery To Trunks Of AUDI AG VORMALS AUDI (OTCMKTS:AUDVF) Cars In Munich, Germany

Online e-commerce giant, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) testing another new service with German automobile company AUDI AG VORMALS AUDI (OTCMKTS:AUDVF).

The company came up with a revolutionary idea to have client purchases delivered to the boots of their vehicles rather than having them delivered to their homes.

So how does it work? Well, it’s really easy. The feature will track the vehicle location and give delivery agents temporary access to the boot of the client’s car. Access will be keyless and will give the agent access to the boot only. Obviously the service will not be available to any car or just anybody. Amazon claims that the service is just going through trials. So far, there is no official word as to whether the company will roll out the service any time soon.

The idea is mostly pegged on various aspects of society. Most people work in big towns and cities that receive easy access by Amazon’s agents. Its potential to make deliveries easier is the reason the company’s executives believe in its potential. Additionally, most people are far too busy to pick up their deliverables.

Living situations are also a considerable factor. Most people who work in cities live in areas that are difficult for delivery agents to reach. The idea would thus bridge the gap by eliminating the distance aspect.

In terms of economic usefulness, the new service is expected to offer timely delivery, easy access, and reduced transport costs for the delivery sector. The test trials will involve a few people. The idea also has the makings of a premium package, which leaves the question of whether it will be available to all who wish to use it. It is hard to determine the answer especially with the limited information about the venture.

Despite the how promising the service appears to be, it is unclear whether the service will be subject to safety issues. Handing over access to a stranger regardless of the temporary nature is not everyone’s morning cup of coffee.
