Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) plummeted as the share of technology and Internet stocks plummeted. This fall extended the recent decreases leading various investors to monitor a rise in the treasury yields. It also caused significant decreases in the Nasdaq 100 index and the U.S. market.
The losses affected all mega-cap names and the software sector, causing a tumble. Other internet companies that fell include Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT), Alphabet Inc Class C (NASDAQ: GOOG), and Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: FB). However, investors noted that Microsoft and Alphabet are coming off their most significant one-week percentage decrease since March 2020.
A few analysts are beginning to view bargains in this category. Bharan Suri, an analyst, stated that he is confident that the industry will present disabled growth and that the overall business remains intact.
In November 2021, Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) named Amazon the top internet pick in 2022, stating that its underperformance made it attractive. Following Monday’s report, Bank of America and Wall Street place their faith in Amazon.
New law could make it difficult for bosses to fire employees
In Washington, a proposed law could make it difficult for organizations to terminate their employees. Currently, employees have the right to access their records; unfortunately, the law is silent on what details employers should reveal and the consequences if the employer fails to abide.
The proposed law will define employee fines and impose penalties if employers fail to issue them. Employees also require access to their records to help them apply for worker’s compensation or pursue discrimination claims.
