Alcatel-Lucent SA (ADR) (NASDAQ:ALU), Join Hands For Faster Rush-Hour Connectivity With TE Connectivity Ltd (NASDAQ:TEL)

Boston, MA 03/18/2014 (wallstreetpr) – The French telecom giant Alcatel-Lucent SA (ADR) (NASDAQ:ALU) is making some big forays in the mobile tech market. Recently, it sealed a deal with TE Connectivity Ltd (NASDAQ:TEL) to develop a solution that allows mobile operators to minimize the waiting time, resources and potential required to connect subscribers in high-capacity areas such as malls, Airports and Amusement parks. The solution, which will go online from Q2 of FY 14, is being labeled as a special digital interface between the TE FlexWave-digital Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and the Alcatel-Lucent mobile Ultra-Broadband access portfolio. DAS networks are known for their greater coverage to subscribers in locations where traffic is high.

However a major shortcoming of the TE Connectivity Ltd (NASDAQ:TEL)’s DAS network is that it still depends on macro network for end user connectivity and it requires base station of each operator’s to be laced with Radio Frequency (RF) processing and weakened panels. Following the deployment of the solution being offered by the Alcatel-Lucent SA (ADR) (NASDAQ:ALU) to TE there will be no any further requirement for Radio Frequency (RF) processing and attenuation panels. It may lead to a dramatic cut of up to 50 percent physical equipments 40% in terms of material cost.

The two companies are further looking for additional savings in terms of power consumption, space and fiber utilization etc. The new technology will also come handy in emergency situations when calls and/or data usage from a particular location peaks quite rapidly and network operators find it hard to cope-up with this sudden surge in demand.

As the network operators struggle to accommodate an ever-growing demand arising from special needs  of their subscriber, Alcatel-Lucent now has increased its focus on delivering wide solutions with to build those networks, including 3G, 4G, Smrfall Cells, and Wi-Fi for outdoor, indoor, and venue applications. Very recently it had tied up with Verizon Wireless to deploy an advanced data management platform throughout network, helping to support the carrier’s LTE expansion. With the current deal with TE Connectivity Ltd (NASDAQ:TEL) connectivity Alcatel-Lucent SA (ADR) (NASDAQ:ALU) may be taking its quest for high speed on wireless networks to the next phase.
