Boston, MA 08/25/2014 (wallstreetpr) – In what may seem to be very shocking and bizarre news, a rare copy of Superman comic sold for a mind-boggling $3.2 million on eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) yesterday. The rare copy of Superman, an Action Comics #1, which features the action hero, Superman, for the first time was in almost perfect condition and so, sold for eye-revolving price, also making it the world’s most expensive comic.

The World’s Most Expensive Comics

The earlier record of most expensive comic of the world was set in the year 2011 when yet another Action Comics #1 copy was sold for approximately $2.2 million. Quite interestingly, the comic which is now sold at eBay for $3.2 million was sold for merely $0.10 at the newsstands in 1938, when it was first launched.

The Action Comics #1 are the comic books considered to be from the league of Holy Grail. The collectors reveal that as many as 50 Action Comics #1 copies still rest un-restored in existence. The rare copy of first feature of Superman comics was sold by collectibles dealer Darren Adams. He also owns the Pristine Comics in Washington.

Darren Adams exclaimed, “I’m proud to have owned the most valuable comic book in the world.” He also added that the action enabled him to bring forth the rare treasure like this to the global podium where the community could see it and the next passionate owner could buy it. He also stated things about the place of this comic in history.

The “Historic Moment” in the Comics World

The Director of Operations, Certified Guaranty Company, Harshen Patel provides grading services to various collectibles. This sale on eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) was referred by him as the “historic moment.” He indicated a positive outlook for the overall health of entire comic books industry.

Earlier in August only, Ferrari, which was 52-years old, broke all records after it sold for $34.65 million at the auction.
