(NASDAQ:EGHT), on June 17, 2014 announced that the company was accepted as the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) supplier. The announcement is seen as a way to further drive the adoption of cloud-based unified communications solutions called Software as a Service (SaaS), in the public sector.
8×8, Inc. (NASDAQ:EGHT) was accepted at the G-Cloud 5 framework of CCS, which was announced recently. G-Cloud 5 framework is an initiative taken by the UK Government to encourage the public sector towards adopting these cloud services.

Kevin Scott-Cowell, CEO, 8×8 Solutions explained that G-Cloud 5 supports the policy of the UK Government to manage procurement of common products and services centrally. This can be done through integrated procurement function within the hub of the Government. This allows the Government to carefully evaluate the suppliers during tender processes.
The major difference a range of procurement frameworks and this G-Cloud 5, according to Kevin Scott-Cowell, is that it allows the public sector bodies to enter a contract with 8×8 which allows them to pay for only those services which they use. The payment is made on the pay-as-you-go basis.
