(TSE:WIN) has now managed to successfully maneuver through litigations by Sierra Wireless Inc and BlackBerry. The company has lately announced reaching a settlement deal in patent dispute with Sierra. This comes after striking a similar deal with BlackBerry on October 9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With these patent disputes behind it, WIN is expected to settle even more other disputes so that it can cut its legal budget and channel it to other productive business activities. Reaching a deal with Sierra and BlackBerry is a milestone for the parties involved as far as patent agreements are concerned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the new WIN-Sierra deal, Sierra has agreed to enter a multi-year license to WIN\u2019s patent portfolio. Then the company announced that follow this agreement, all litigations between the two companies plus the subsidiaries will be closed. The same goes for the BlackBerry settlement situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A definitive agreement is expected for signing in November, announced WIN. The company has however not disclosed the financial implications in the deals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WIN has had considerately good rally in the Toronto stock exchange market, gaining 0.73% in the in Friday\u2019s trading session. The company has $498.15 million in market cap as of October 11. The company\u2019s Q3.13 earnings release is up on November 6, followed by a conference call later in the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WIN develops, acquires and licenses intellectual properties in the tech industry. The company has so far licensed over 255 patents to companies in telecoms industry worldwide. These have come from the company\u2019s own internal research and acquisitions from third parties. In June this year, WIN acquired patents from Cypress Semiconductor Corporation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company holds both domestic and foreign patent portfolio of about 3K. WIN wholly owns five subsidiaries directly.
