Boston, MA 10\/04\/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Following Google\u2019s plans of providing cost free Wi-Fi facilities in the U.S.,\u00a0Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) has decided to work in collaboration with the former\u2019s competitor in order to give it a stiff competition. In the beginning of the year, Google had come up with a proposal to set up free wireless web services in 7,000 Cafes of Starbucks Corporation the United States. In this pursuit, Google had been surveying the market to learn the preferences of its customers so that it could provide them with targeted advertisements. On Oct 2, Cisco announced plans on the same line. It is working with Google\u2019s rival, Facebook, to give its customers the access to free Wi-Fi in public places.<\/p>\n
Cisco and Facebook have come together to enable Facebook users to access free internet through mobile phones and other devices in malls, hotels and other public places. All the users need to do is log in with their Facebook IDs on their smartphones and they would be able to access the Wi-Fi there. Not only this, the Chief Executive Officer of Cisco, John Chambers verified that this service would also be available in hospitals. A gave a short demonstration of the same in a conference by Interop Technology held in New York.<\/p>\n
Further, the company added on by saying that as the users check-in in any of these places, they would be able to view customized information or targeted advertisements or promotions according to their individual needs. Equivalently, Google, on the other hand, had plans to come up with an adaption of Starbucks Digital Networks through which it aims to put forth before its customers ads which would be suitable to them. In addition, Google would promote the media and music it trades.<\/p>\n
