Boston, MA 10\/02\/2013 (wallstreetpr) –\u00a0AT&T (NYSE:T) is all geared up to stand against Google Inc. The two are giving each other hard time, setting their eyes on Austin, Texas at the same time. Earlier in April, Google had proposed its plan to deliver high speed internet services in the city of Austin, the technology hub, as they call it. Google had come with plans to set up its fiber technology based Internet service to prospective customers in Texas by the middle of 2014. The internet speed it was aiming would have been 100 times faster than the broadband services currently available. AT&T is all set up to give Google a tough competition in its pursue.<\/p>\n
AT&T\u2019s fiber optic technology, they say, would provide the people of Austin an internet speed of 300mbps, a speed 30 times of the current internet speed there. The company would launch this service by the end of December, way ahead of Google\u2019s internet services. Later, they say, by the time Google launches its new technology in the market, they would be ready to answer by even higher speeds. Hence, by mid- 2014, AT&T would be delivering to its customers a 100 times upgraded speed of 1 gbps. With such high speeds, high- definition movies of full length could be downloaded in less than a couple of minutes!<\/p>\n
Google\u2019s Fiber Service has been out since the second half of 1012 in Kansas City and looks forward to making the same available in Provo, Utah by the end of 2013. In the meanwhile, the U-verse Fiber- Optic Network of AT&T has been showing its presence in Austin from 2007. For speeds ranging in GB, Google charges $70 for its internet services without TV and $120 otherwise in Kansas City.
