Competition is fierce and there is always some innovation that is better than yours or an idea that is more brilliant. The mobile market is almost always in war-zone mode with every manufacturer launching one or the other device, at regular intervals. Apple did something majorly right with its iPad mini launch and this small tablet now accounts for more than 60% of the company\u2019s tablet sales. The story is somewhat the same with Google\u2019s Nexus 7.<\/p>\n
Watching from afar<\/strong><\/p>\n To date, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is one company that only watched the melee from a distance and did not venture into the tablet waters. Its two tablets, the Surface Pro and Surface RT failed miserably and the successive devices haven\u2019t been able to make their mark either. The technology vine now has it that the company is planning on launching maybe what will be eventually called a Surface Mini. Purported to sport a 7.5\u201d screen it will sit snugly somewhere between the 7.9\u201d iPad mini and the 7\u201d Nexus.<\/p>\n A competitor ?<\/strong><\/p>\n Tech-watchers are saying that the Surface mini will operate on Windows 8.1, have an ARM chip and probably also 3G and 4G connectivity. Currently neither of the Surface models has this. Another rumor doing the rounds is that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) might just market its Surface Mini as a gaming-tablet. Maybe the Xbox\u2019s and the PS4\u2019s will have to worry about it then.<\/p>\n Tuesday\u2019s trading<\/strong><\/p>\n In Tuesday\u2019s trading, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) rose by 0.90%. The shares opened at a price of $33.35, climbed to an intraday high of $33.61 and dipped to a close of $33.58.
