Boston, MA 10\/01\/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), one of the largest software making company in the world has been slowly concentrating on the hardware market also. On Sept. 3, 2013 with a view of penetrating the mobile phones market it revealed its plan to acquire the Finnish mobile telephony giant Nokia Corporation (NASDAQ:NOK) against Euro 5.4 billion. The company previously entered into the tablets market with its Surface Tablet series. Its first tablet was launched last year and received a good response initially from the higher income bracket officials. However, later on its popularity declined because of which many models remained unsold. The company is also working on a mini model of its Surface Tablets and officials of the company are optimistic about its success.<\/p>\n
It was Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) who brought in the concept of tablets in the market. Gradually, other companies like Samsung, Asus, Google, Acer, and Lenovo also roped in and started manufacturing their own tablets. Microsoft can be taken as the newest member of this family. While most of the companies have also launched their mini version tablets, Microsoft however, is yet to come up with such similar versions. Apple\u2019s iPad mini tablet was a huge success for the company and these models have increased the sales of the company by few folds. Apple\u2019s mini tablets accounts for about 60% of its tablet sales now. Microsoft also followed the success and its researchers started working designing the smaller versions of its Surface tablets.<\/p>\n
The upcoming Surface Mini tablet from Microsoft is expected to have a 7.5 inch screen, will run on Windows 8.1 OS and will be powered by ARM chip. The version will also feature 3G and 4G connectivity.
