Oops, the bird did it again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A man claims that a territorial bird has singled him out after attacking him day after day on his route home from work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alejandro Rios, 25, lives in Brisbane, Australia,<\/a> and bikes home from his kitchen catering job every day, as SWNS reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rios said he was first pecked on the head by a dive-bombing magpie bird<\/a> on Sept. 20 \u2014\u00a0and he thought it was an odd occurrence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The first time, I felt something knock at my head,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I was a bit worried \u2026 thought a piece of fruit<\/a> had fallen off a tree or someone had hit me.”<\/p>\n

Rios said he soon realized he had become the bird\u2019s target after he was attacked multiple times on his same route home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“By the end, it was funny because I knew it was coming,” he said to SWNS about recognizing that he would be hit more than once.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The kitchen worker, who is wearing a helmet in the video that captured the attack, said he makes sure the bird doesn\u2019t hit his eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rios also added zip ties to his helmet to ensure the bird won\u2019t hurt his head in any capacity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Magpies are believed to remember faces, something Rios said he recalled when realizing what type of bird was going after him.<\/p>\n

Magpies will attack things they see as a threat; they recall faces and tend to keep memories for long periods of time, according to the Government of South Australia Department for Environment and Water.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rios said he originally thought the bird didn\u2019t like him because he was riding a bike \u2014\u00a0but soon realized that couldn\u2019t be true, as other people biked past him and were not attacked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Regardless, Rios said he considers the bird a friend even if the animal really doesn\u2019t like him.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a bit of a friend and a bit of a nemesis,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I love animals, so I want to say it\u2019s my friend \u2014 but it really, really hates me.”<\/p>\n
