No matter what you think of Taylor Swift \u2014 her music isn\u2019t on any of my playlists \u2014 you don\u2019t have to be a Swiftie to recognize that her appeal has become a cultural phenomenon. And like any cultural phenomenon<\/a>, while it\u2019s fascinating to watch,\u00a0discretion is advised before hitching up your wagon and blindly following the masses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her massive Eras Tour<\/a>, which is about to start its second leg next year, spans five continents and is on track to become the highest-grossing tour of all time at $1 billion \u2014 topping Sir Elton John.<\/p>\n

With tickets in high demand at steep prices, some going for an obscene $2,000 this year, my kids are watching their friends plan trips \u2014 both foreign and domestic \u2014 wherever they can score the cheapest Eras tickets.<\/p>\n

TAYLOR SWIFT’S ERAS TOUR LEAVES US AFTER MONTHS OF MAKING HISTORY AND CAUSING CHAOS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Traveling across the country with the Swifties is not something I\u2019d list as a high probability of coming up on my Bingo card. But, shhh\u2026 please don\u2019t tell my daughter the odds aren\u2019t in her favor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She already has a city and seats picked out.<\/p>\n

While I can appreciate a good cultural phenomenon, I definitely don\u2019t appreciate her cultural activism<\/a>, particularly when Gen Z \u2014 my kids \u2014 are her target audience. To be honest, I liked her a whole lot more when she would just stick to her music and sing.<\/p>\n

And it looks like she may be getting back in the ring to take another swing. With stadiums maxed out at a minimum\u00a0of 70,000 fans, most of them Gen Z, you have to wonder if the second leg of her Eras Tour is going to double as a series of Democrat campaign rallies for 2024.<\/p>\n

Actually, you really don\u2019t have to wonder.<\/p>\n

She\u00a0just registered 35,000 people to vote on National Voter Registration Day<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

She has a huge reach, no doubt, and anyone who denies that just isn\u2019t paying attention. However, in 2018 she appointed herself the moral authority on all things political and hasn\u2019t been able to calm down ever since.<\/p>\n

TRUMP WEIGHS IN ON TAYLOR SWIFT RELATIONSHIP WITH NFL STAR TRAVIS KELCE, PREDICTS IF RELATIONSHIP WILL LAST<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In an Instagram post during the midterms that year,\u00a0she dumped all over now-Senator Marsha Blackburn<\/a>, R-Tenn., saying,\u00a0“She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry\u2026”<\/p>\n

Her post was intended to get young people to register to vote \u2014and just like that, 65,000 new voters registered in 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Impressive, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Except that registered voters are only voters if they actually go vote \u2014 assuming everybody plays fair, of course. In the end, Blackburn crushed her opponent by a whopping 55-43 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That didn\u2019t quite go the way Taylor saw it going.<\/p>\n

LITTLE BIG TOWN EXPLAINS TAYLOR SWIFT’S ‘CULT-LIKE’ FANDOM: ‘WE’VE BEEN SWIFTIES FOR A LONG TIME’<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In 2019,\u00a0she announced, “Obviously, I\u2019m pro-choice,” when she got shamed into submission by the left-wing radicals still suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, prior to the 2020 election after daring to stay apolitical during the 2016 election. She\u2019s had a lot to atone for ever since.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just so we\u2019re clear, “pro-choice” to the woke lefty crowd doesn\u2019t mean what it used to mean \u2014 safe, legal and rare. They\u2019re the extremists who want to normalize abortion until birth<\/a>, but that\u2019s the quiet part they never want to say out loud. Someone should ask Taylor what she thinks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On her Eras Tour this year, Taylor\u00a0genuflected at the woke altar of sexualizing kids. Kicking off Pride Month, she called state laws that protect children from sexually graphic drag shows and prohibit cutting off kids\u2019 genitals “harmful pieces of legislation.”<\/p>\n

She may want to fix her moral compass before she asks anyone else to follow it.<\/p>\n

TAYLOR SWIFT TELLS FANS THEY DON’T NEED TO ‘DEFEND’ HER ONLINE AHEAD OF RE-RELEASE OF ‘SPEAK NOW’ ALBUM<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Perhaps that was a sneak peek at what we can look forward to at Eras 2.0 \u2014 election edition \u2014 an insufferable campaign commercial guided by Taylor\u2019s moral compass<\/a>. They should put a warning label on the tickets.<\/p>\n

With any luck she\u2019ll turn out to be better at selling football jerseys than she is at selling her political opinions.<\/p>\n

Travis Kelce<\/a> saw his\u00a0jersey sales skyrocket nearly 400 percent after Taylor hung out with Mama Kelce at last Sunday\u2019s Chiefs\u2019 game, where 24 million viewers gawked at the show happening off the field.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m wondering how long until the “Real Housewives” franchise capitalizes on the Chiefs? Between Brittany Mahomes\u2019 antics, like dumping champagne on fans in the cheap seats, and the star power of Taylor Swift, I\u2019m surprised contracts haven\u2019t been signed by now.<\/p>\n

I mean, who wouldn\u2019t want to see a good table flip in the suite with “Bad Blood” playing in the background? Better hurry before the breakup song comes out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Travis said this week he\u2019s going to\u00a0keep a lid on things<\/a> “moving forward” \u2014 for Taylor\u2019s sake. Poor guy, he has no idea he\u2019s the star of her next album.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a thought, if you\u2019re in your 30s and still publicly changing guys like you change shoes \u2014 with every relationship ending in a song on stage in front of 70,000 people \u2014 it\u2019s time to step away from the pen. Seriously, where is this girl\u2019s mother? Can someone stage an intervention.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bueller, Bueller, anyone???<\/p>\n

Airing your dirty laundry might make for a good album but at 33 it likely will leave you empty and unfulfilled when the stage lights go down.<\/p>\n

Without a doubt, Swift\u2019s success<\/a> as an entertainer and singer is solidified in the history books. However, her success to date as a political mouthpiece, not so much.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So far she\u2019s been nothing more than a whole lot of hot air that\u2019s gone nowhere. But as the culture shifts, so can the jury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

C.S. Lewis said,\u00a0“When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Think twice before you decide what cultural “norm” you hitch your wagon to and if necessary, “Shake it Off.”<\/p>\n
