A boy was “humiliated” and beaten to tears by a “bullying gang” of youngsters \u2013 suspected of migrant origin \u2013 in Zelzate \u2013 a Flemish region in Belgium \u2013 according to a video that went viral on social media<\/a> last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to a video which circulated online, six young people surround a boy. The gang forces him to get on his knees and kiss their feet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Kiss, kiss,” the gang demanded. After the boy complied with their requests by force, he was repeatedly punched in his head and face several times. The gang laughs and departs the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The identities of the gang members involved in the criminal assault<\/a>, which reportedly occurred on August 11, were not immediately revealed by police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The president of Vlaams Belang, the Flemish far-right populist party<\/a>, called the video “disgusting.” Some in the party suspected the gang were of migrant origin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“[A] White Flemish child has to kiss the feet of Muslims,” Flip Dewinter said, calling it the “humiliation of the non-Muslims.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another video \u2013 which was recorded in proximity to the assault on the boy \u2013 showed individuals pulling a girl’s hair and smacking her in the face while she is on the ground. A relative of the girl reportedly said she is afraid to leave the house following the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police were seeking to determine whether the attacks were committed by the same individuals. They noted the perpetrators were from Zelzate<\/a>, and that they expected to apprehend them quickly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The order allowed police the legal means to search minors without any clear reason until August 22.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We strongly condemn every incident that has been shown on social media,” the mayor, who belongs to the social democratic political party<\/a> called Vooruit, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
