(NASDAQ:AAPL) were down by 0.99% currently trading at $431.58 with volume of 4.70 million shares traded compared to average volume of 14.30 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apple is going to bring in a new feature for its future smart-phones. People are dubbing it a \u201ckill switch\u201d because once activated by the user, the application will virtually kill the device. The feature is an anti-theft app. If someone\u2019s Apple phone gets stolen he will have the power to delete all its data and switch it off from a distance. This \u201cActivation Lock\u201d feature will seek to deter people from adding to the rising cases of Apple-phones getting stolen. Once set in motion, it will render the phone completely useless. The phone can be re-activated only by inputting the user\u2019s ID and password. Senior vice president of Apple, Craig Federighi gave this information at the Worldwide Developers Conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to reports, New York City police have a special department just for dealing with cases relating to phone thefts, such is the size of this problem. Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne thinks that the rising number of such cases might have a lot to do with the 3% rise in overall criminal cases in the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It can be reasonably expected that other smart-phone companies will also follow suit and start taking the problem of phone thefts seriously.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another interesting development, Sony Corp. has started making public the technical details of its \u201cSmartWatch\u201d for techies to write the firmware of the device by themselves. It is believed Sony has done this for attracting developers and getting new innovations because other companies, like Apple and Samsung, are joining the fray to launch similar devices. These time-pieces carry out similar functions as a smart-phone.
