CNN International anchor Christiane Amanpour issued an apology on her Monday show after she called the murders of an Israeli mother and her daughters<\/a> a “shootout.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“On April 10, I referred to the murders of an Israeli family: Lucy, Maia and Rina Dee, the wife and daughters of Rabbi Leo Dee,” Amanpour said. “I misspoke and said they were killed in a \u2018shootout\u2019 instead of a shooting. I have written to Rabbi Leo Dee to apologize and make sure that he knows that we apologize for any further pain that may have caused him.”<\/p>\n

Amanpour\u2019s retraction came after a 10-day campaign led by HonestReporting. The veteran journalist had originally contrasted the death of a young Palestinian boy with the deaths of Rabbi Leo Dee’s family.<\/p>\n

“We have a young 15-year-old Palestinian boy who\u2019s been shot and killed by security \u2014 Israeli security forces. We also have the mother of two sisters, Israeli British sisters. They were killed in a shootout, and now the mother has died of her injuries,” Amanpour said on April 10, before she apologized.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CNN’S CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR CALLS OUT BOSS CHRIS LICHT, OFFERS STUNNING REBUKE OF TRUMP TOWN HALL<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Amanpour was criticized specifically for her labeling of the murder of Rabbi Leo Dee’s family on May 11 as a “shootout.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“A shootout is two sides firing at each other. A mother & her two daughters were shot at close range by Palestinian terrorists,” HonestReporting wrote in a tweet.<\/p>\n

Rabbi Leo Dee also demanded that Amanpour apologize in a statement to HonestReporting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This is the perfect example of \u2018terror journalism\u2019 where you have moral equivalence between the terrorist and the victim. This type of journalism perpetuates the conflict in the Middle East<\/a>,” Rabbi Dee said.<\/p>\n

“The real cycle of violence is a comment like this followed by a terrorist atrocity and then more of the same,” the Rabbi concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

HonestReporting’s executive director, Gil Hoffman, told Fox News in a statement Tuesday that calling out journalists like Amanpour when they’re wrong has a positive influence on media in general.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The press covering Israel saw what happened to Amanpour, and I hope it will make them more careful to be completely accurate when they file their own reports. Even journalists with an anti-Israel bias \u2014 as Amanpour has proven to be \u2014 will have to watch themselves better, because they know we at HonestReporting are watching. That is called restoring deterrence on the media battlefield, and it is more important than ever for Israel’s future.”<\/p>\n

CNN STAFFERS CONTINUE UNDERMINING BOSS BY TOUTING CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR’S BLISTERING TAKEDOWN OF TRUMP TOWN HALL<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Amanpour \u2014 CNN\u2019s chief international correspondent and one of the network\u2019s leading personalities \u2014 also made news last week when she publicly undermined her boss, CNN CEO Chris Licht, during a graduation speech by questioning his decision to hold a Trump town hall.<\/p>\n

Amanpour\u2019s public rift with her boss is the latest in a series of statements that CNN anchors have made following the network\u2019s town hall with former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, in contrast, attempted to defend the town hall while blasting the former president<\/a> as well as the network’s critics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“You have every right to be outraged and angry and never watch this network again. But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?” Cooper told his audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n
