It closed at a price of $1.27 which was also the intraday high, before heading down to close at $1.39 per share. The average volume of 7.11 million that was measured over a 30-day period<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Incorporated on 20 July 2001, AFFY is a bio-pharma company. It is involved in the development of drugs. These are used in the treatment of various serious and life-threatening conditions. Peginesatide, its product candidate, is used in the treatment of anemia in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease, who are on dialysis. This synthetic peptide-based erythropoiesis stimulating agent is designed to stimulate the production of RBC. Affymax, Inc (NASDAQ:AFFY) has a worldwide collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, for the development and commercialization of peginesatide. As of 31 December 2011, more than 2,600 patients have received this drug in clinical trials. As of the same date, the New Drug Application (NDA) for the peginesatide drug was under review by the United States, FDA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Company has stopped its development efforts to treat anemia in chemotherapy-induced anemia and non-dialysis patients. AFFY and Takeda completed various Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials of peginesatide at their sites in the U.S and the European Union.
