Consider upping the ante this Mother\u2019s Day with this delicious riff on traditional French toast.<\/p>\n

“Most breakfast casserole recipes<\/a> are created to be assembled the night before. We developed this recipe because most often on the night before you want a special breakfast you don\u2019t want to be in the kitchen,” said Pam Brand of Georgia, co-founder of food blog Biscuits and Burlap.<\/p>\n

15 ounces brioche bread<\/a> about 1 loaf, cut into 1.5 inch pieces<\/p>\n

2 cups blueberries fresh or frozen<\/p>\n

5 eggs<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00bd cup half-and-half<\/p>\n

1\u2153 cup whole milk<\/p>\n

1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/p>\n

\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<\/p>\n

2 tablespoons butter<\/a> melted<\/p>\n

\u00bc cup brown sugar<\/p>\n

1 tablespoon powdered sugar optional, for garnish<\/p>\n

MOTHER’S DAY: 10 THOUGHTFUL GIFT IDEAS FOR YOUR GRANDMOTHER TO SHOW HER LOVE AND APPRECIATION, TOO<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

1. Cut bread into approximately 1\u00bd inch cubes and place half in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Top with half blueberries and then layer remaining bread followed by remaining blueberries.<\/p>\n

3. In a medium bowl whisk eggs, half-and-half, milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon until well blended.<\/p>\n

4. Pour egg mixture over bread and blueberries<\/a> and allow to sit in the refrigerator, covered for 45 minutes to 12 hours.<\/p>\n

5. In a small bowl combine melted butter and brown sugar.<\/p>\n

6. Remove the casserole from the fridge and sprinkle sugar\/butter mixture over the top.<\/p>\n

7. Bake at 350 \u00b0F degrees for 40\u201345 minutes or until the casserole is golden brown<\/a> on top.<\/p>\n

8. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.<\/p>\n

9. Allow to sit 8\u201310 minutes before serving.<\/p>\n
