Former ICE Director Jonathan Fahey chastised the Biden administration for displaying a “breathtaking level of incompetence” on the U.S. southern border as the end of Title 42<\/a> draws near.<\/p>\n

In an interview on “America Reports” Tuesday, Fahey slammed the White House for failing to establish a plan to deal with the expected influx of migrants already lining up at the border, telling Fox News host John Roberts that the immigration crisis is “going to get so much worse” once Title 42 is lifted on May 11.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s going to get so much\u00a0worse, and the idea [that] they\u00a0didn\u2019t expect this, that\u2019s really\u00a0breathtaking the level of\u00a0incompetence,”\u00a0Fahey said. “Everyone knows this is going to\u00a0happen, and it\u2019s going to get\u00a0worse and also shows when she\u00a0talks about deterrence, there\u2019s\u00a0no deterrent whatsoever.\u00a0They are in plain sight walking\u00a0across and the moment they get\u00a0to the United States they will\u00a0receive every benefit that\u00a0American citizens get and this\u00a0administration will not deport\u00a0them, absent the most\u00a0extraordinary circumstance.”<\/p>\n

BORDER PATROL CLEARS WAY FOR MORE MIGRANT RELEASES TO CITY STREETS, SOURCES SAY: \u2018THE DAM IS ABOUT TO BREAK\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday refused to discuss “hypotheticals” <\/a>about the number of migrants expected to surge across the southern border at the end of Title 42, insisting that there is a plan to deal with the crisis “humanely.”<\/p>\n

“Our focus when it as it relates to managing the border is we’re going to do this through enforcement, deterrence and diplomacy,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fahey said the White House has repeatedly demonstrated they have\u00a0“no plan now to deal with\u00a0it.”<\/p>\n

“They are not dealing with this in a remotely serious way in any respect,” he told Roberts.<\/p>\n

The looming end of Title 42 has put Border Patrol officials and Republican border hawks on edge as tens of thousands of migrants are expected to pour across the border<\/u><\/a> and overwhelm law enforcement. Title 42 has been used since 2020 by both the Trump and Biden administration to expel hundreds of thousands of migrants quickly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, nearly half of all migrant encounters ended in a Title 42 expulsion. The order will end on May 11 along with the COVID-19 national emergency.<\/p>\n

Last month, the\u00a0Biden administration\u00a0confirmed it will terminate the policy<\/u><\/a>\u00a0at the end of May\u00a0despite objections from both Democrats and Republicans warning that it would trigger a massive migrant wave.<\/p>\n

Fahey said that while immigration reform remains a point of contention politically, Congress can help quell the chaos at the border by enforcing existing laws already in place in the U.S.<\/p>\n

“Whether or not immigration needs\u00a0to be reformed overall, we can\u00a0deal with this issue by enforcing\u00a0laws we have in place.\u00a0If you look at things like\u00a0Remain in Mexico, that [makes] \u2026 everyone claiming asylum stay in Mexico until their claims the claims heard.\u00a0People crossing non-ports of\u00a0entry are prosecuted for illegal\u00a0entry, which is a misdemeanor, and they\u00a0are not enforcing those laws,\u00a0but if you do those things,\u00a0enforce the law with serious\u00a0criminals that are already here when they\u00a0commit a crime, cut down on\u00a0sanctuary cities, this problem\u00a0would be a small fraction of\u00a0what it is now and then you\u00a0could start finding other ways\u00a0to deal with\u00a0it,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It’s absolutely absurd\u2026it\u2019s\u00a0really on Congress to enforce\u00a0new laws or to pass laws, and\u00a0they\u2019ll enforce the future laws,” he continued, “but they’re not enforcing the law in any respect, and they don\u2019t want to, they\u00a0actually want this to happen.”<\/p>\n
