They looked at her socials and just said, \u2018You know what? Here\u2019s a topic that\u2019s hot right now. Why don\u2019t we pay this person to do a promotion?\u2019&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney was announced as a Bud Light partner to promote the March Madness basketball tournament last month, which has prompted ridicule and backlash from the media and the public in recent weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/bud-light-facing-unmitigated-disaster-only-getting-worse-clay-travis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>BUD LIGHT IS FACING AN \u2018UNMITIGATED DISASTER\u2019 THAT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE, SAYS CLAY TRAVIS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trans activist showed off cans of Bud Light sent by Anheuser-Busch that featured Mulvaney&#8217;s face, celebrating a milestone in her viral &#8220;365 Days of Girlhood&#8221; series where the influencer detailed daily experiences in her first year identifying as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/former-trans-influencer-blames-tiktok-stars-rise-gender-ideology-trend-destroys-lives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>transgender woman on TikTok.<\/u><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Harvie said he didn\u2019t believe the allyship was real at the time and admitted that even through he liked the message of the ad, it was mostly about the money for him, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was about the dollars for me too, honestly,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I\u2019m a working comic actor. I was thrilled to be in the presence of Amy Schumer and glad to get a nice paycheck from that. I\u2019m 30 years sober\u2014I don\u2019t even drink. I didn\u2019t believe in the allyship from the get-go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 ad featured Harvie, along with Seth Rogen and Amy Schumer, who didn&#8217;t use the word &#8220;transgender,&#8221; but did say &#8220;Gender identity\u2014it\u2019s really a spectrum, and we don\u2019t need these labels&#8221; and &#8220;Beer should have labels, not people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Harvie also echoed a sentiment expressed by many progressives and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups in recent weeks, who feel the company has not shown adequate support for Mulvaney and the transgender community amid the controversy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is disturbing that there\u2019s no statement of support [for Mulvaney],&#8221; Harvie told Ad Age. &#8220;They should have doubled down. They should have said, \u2018You think it\u2019s offensive to have a trans person promoting Bud Light? Well, here\u2019s 10 more.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/anheuser-busch-gives-away-free-bud-light-make-amends-distributors-after-mulvaney-controversy-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ANHEUSER-BUSCH GIVES AWAY FREE BUD LIGHT TO \u2018MAKE AMENDS\u2019 TO DISTRIBUTORS AFTER MULVANEY CONTROVERSY: REPORT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Harvie said Mulvaney&#8217;s campaign is different from the 2016 ad because trans women face more hate than trans men.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As much as I do feel scared and in danger\u2014I just traveled to Florida, and my eyes were peeled for sure\u2014the truth is that transphobic responses are so much more visceral around trans women than trans men,&#8221; he said. &#8220;This is largely rooted in misogyny and transphobia combined.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since Bud Light&#8217;s partnership with Mulvaney, in-store sales of the beer have dropped 26% during the week that ended April 22, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/business\/local\/bud-light-sales-continue-to-plummet-after-transgender-marketing-controversy\/article_cb4df8c2-e83f-11ed-b255-f3f68e1f98f4.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><u>St. Louis Post-Dispatch<\/u><\/a> reported. Anheuser Busch also saw its market value decrease by $5 billion in recent weeks, but Harvie said he thinks those boycotting Bud Light will come back to the beer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The truth is that Kid Rock and his followers are still going to drink it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They\u2019re going to scream about it, but they\u2019ll keep drinking it. It doesn\u2019t change the taste or the price point for them.
