A Kansas man<\/a> is making a difference in the lives of others in his community with the help of a truck, a team, a lawn mower \u2014 and a big heart.<\/p>\n

When Spencer B. (last name withheld), the owner of SB Mowing, sees a lawn that needs some care, he stops his truck, knock on the homeowner\u2019s door and offers to take care of the lawn<\/a> for free.<\/p>\n

That includes mowing, edging and using a blower to clear sidewalks and walkways.<\/p>\n

Spencer B., from Wichita, has been in lawn care for 12 years \u2014 and he’s committed to spending some of his time by helping others at no charge. (SEE the video at the top of this article for how he works.)<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I started with my buddy<\/a> mowing lawns in the neighborhood in sixth grade,” the 24-year-old told Fox News Digital in an interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We would push our lawn mower down the street and go knock on some doors and get our jobs that way.”<\/p>\n

The young entrepreneur, who married his girlfriend<\/a> last year, kept growing the company throughout high school and college.<\/p>\n

“This helped pay for my college,” he noted, saying he would drive home on weekends to take care of his clients\u2019 lawns.<\/p>\n

About a year-and-a-half ago, Spencer B. saw a few lawn professionals in videos mowing lawns for free.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s pretty cool, I thought \u2014 maybe I can start a YouTube channel and do this once a week,” he said.<\/p>\n

“So,” he said, “I got out and I tried it.”<\/p>\n

He bought a tripod for his iPhone<\/a> in order to shoot the videos \u2014 and began knocking on the doors of homes whose yards looked like the homeowners could use a hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After his first couple of YouTube videos, “I was getting a lot of response,” he said of the online feedback.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Today, he has over 1 million followers on his YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

“Usually with lawn care, the people\u2019s doors I knock on \u2014 most of the time they say \u2018yes,\u2019 because it’s someone that\u2019s unable to mow their lawn. And it\u2019s been that way for a really long time,” he said.<\/p>\n

“If they were to pay someone to do it, it\u2019s going to cost them a few hundred bucks at least. And it’s either that or wait for the city to come out and fine them a whole bunch of money on their property taxes,” he added.<\/p>\n

People are usually really surprised, he said \u2014 and they\u2019re even “kind of confused.”<\/p>\n

He often gets asked, “Why would you do this for free?”\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said he explains to the homeowner or renter that he makes YouTube videos of his work and that he makes revenue from the ads placed on his videos.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He tells the homeowners, “I can completely transform your yard<\/a> \u2014 completely free,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Some of these homeowners go on to sign up with SB Mowing as clients, paying “whatever they can afford,” he said.<\/p>\n

Around Wichita, you “don\u2019t have to go too far” to see a lawn that needs help, he added.<\/p>\n

“The edges are covering the sidewalk and are all the way over the curb, the grass is three feet tall \u2014 I try to go out as much as I can every week.”<\/p>\n

Noting that he is able to take care of several lawns a week for free \u2014 with some harder jobs taking several days \u2014 Spencer B. said that it returns a sense of dignity to the people within the homes.<\/p>\n

“The number-one thing that people tell me when I get finished is, \u2018Oh my gosh, it doesn\u2019t even look like my house anymore,\u2019” he noted.<\/p>\n

“It just completely changes the look of the entire home \u2014 the grass and the yard is the very, very first thing people see when they pull up to a house.”<\/p>\n

Noting that the yard is also the first thing homeowners see when they look out their own window, “it makes them feel good about themselves, and where they live.”<\/p>\n

There have been a lot of emotional reactions since he\u2019s started knocking on doors, he said.<\/p>\n

One gentleman, a veteran<\/a>, was “coming on some rough times,” Spencer B. said.<\/p>\n

He and his SB Mowing team “came together real quick” and did the veteran\u2019s lawn and “raised some money for him and got him back on his feet,” raising $10,000 through a GoFundMe. (SEE the veteran’s reaction in the video, below.)<\/strong><\/p>\n

People are “so thankful,” he also said.<\/p>\n

Most people are “shocked” by how long he stays working at the home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ll be there from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and some take several days to finish,” he said.<\/p>\n

SB Mowing has a few different revenue streams.<\/p>\n

Along with profit from his regular business, Spencer B. offers merchandise including hats and T-shirts online, and he receives revenue from ads placed in his videos.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also sponsored by a lawn mower manufacturer, Hustler Mowers.<\/p>\n

“They give me a nice mower to cut the yards down with,” he said.<\/p>\n

Spencer B. will be cutting lawns and improving yards\u00a0\u2014 and lives \u2014 for the foreseeable future, he said.<\/p>\n

“Right now, it\u2019s my career. You never know how long you\u2019re able to do something,” he said. “I might get hurt one day. You never know, it\u2019s a very physical job.”<\/p>\n

He added, “One day, people might stop watching my videos, which is totally OK \u2014 I might have to tone it back and get a job elsewhere!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
