NBA legend Shaquille O\u2019Neal<\/u><\/a> took aim at former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann on social media Sunday night after the political commentator called LSU women\u2019s basketball star Angel Reese a “f—ing idiot” for taunting Iowa\u2019s Caitlin Clark during the NCAA women\u2019s national championship game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Olbermann fired off the controversial tweet about Reese after she mimicked Clark\u2019s “you can\u2019t see me” gesture, which the Hawkeye\u2019s star<\/u><\/a> previously did in Iowa\u2019s Final Four round victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reese also motioned to her ring finger, symbolizing the championship LSU would soon claim.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The highly debated moment drew ire from both sides with some calling it poor sportsmanship and others defending trash talking as a part of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Olbermann\u2019s choice of words drew ire from the former Los Angeles Lakers<\/u><\/a> superstar, who didn\u2019t hold back on Twitter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Shut your dumb a– up, leave Angel Reese alone,” Shaq said in a tweet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Olberman later issued an apology, claiming that his remark was “uninformed.” He went on to say that both Reese and Clark were “wrong.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shaq also took aim at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy who tweeted out “Classless piece of s—,” when addressing Reese\u2019s taunt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the 102-85 victory, Reese defended herself saying she didn\u2019t appreciate Clark\u2019s “disrespect” in Iowa\u2019s win over South Carolina.\u00a0<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

She also called out the critics during her post-game presser, noting that she received criticism that others didn\u2019t because she didn\u2019t “fit the narrative.”<\/p>\n

“All year, I was critiqued about who I was. The narrative \u2014 I don\u2019t fit the narrative. I don\u2019t fit the box you all want me to be in. I\u2019m too hood. I\u2019m too ghetto. You told me that all year,” Reese said.<\/p>\n

“But when other people do it \u2014 you all don\u2019t say nothing. So, this is for the girls that look like me. That\u2019s going to speak up for what they believe in. It\u2019s unapologetically you, and that\u2019s what I did it for tonight. It was bigger than me tonight. It was bigger than me. Twitter is going to go in a rage every time. And, I mean, I\u2019m happy. I feel like I helped grow women\u2019s basketball this year. I\u2019m super happy and excited. I\u2019m looking forward to celebrating and then next season.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
