Boston, MA 03\/04\/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG)\u2019s Glass and Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)\u2019s iWatch-two products released by two giant companies that are supposed to leave you jaw-dropped. Why? Cause they\u2019re on the verge of making their mark in history by inventing \u201cwearable technology\u201d ensuring the wearer is constantly connected, although critics claims the whole idea to be absurd. Let\u2019s see how that works.<\/p>\n

Google Glass<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project has been going around, and worked on since April, last year. Fondly called as \u201caugmented reality head mounted display\u201d by Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG), it\u2019s a pair of glasses which has a tiny computer programmed to project images in front of the viewer\u2019s eyes. This wraparound glass can be controlled by voice, or by touch or even by head movements. And how it works? It goes online through WiFi or uses Bluetooth on the user\u2019s phone and has an android interface.<\/p>\n

What it does? A user has access to Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) products such as Google apps, Google Maps, Google translate, and get alerts when they\u2019re on the move. Pretty much everything we dreamed of. This hands free computer that gets things done is scheduled to be out by the last quarter of 2013.<\/p>\n

In order to prevent its users from looking like Googly-eyed monsters, Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) is working on to make it more \u201cfashionable\u201d and conducted a show featuring models showing off different colored versions. However, it\u2019s an indisputable fact that going to cost an arm and leg, by which I mean $1,500,for a fancy computer glasses.<\/p>\n

Apple iWatch<\/strong><\/p>\n

If Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) aimed at the stars, Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) was looking at the moon. Apple\u2019s rumored iWatch basked in limelight when they experimented with curved glass, and this reached its zenith when reports followed that the watch could be synchronized with an iPhone.<\/p>\n

Why it didn\u2019t reach out to the audience as much as it intended to? Because similar products have been around. Pebble Technology had its best-seller Pebble Watch made it possible for its users to check messages and e-mails through their wrist watch.Apart from these, it displayed info\u2019s from MP3 library and synced phone\u2019s GPS to it. All for $150!<\/p>\n

\u00a0Then again, there were others. The CooKOO sells for $130, comes with a battery that runs for a\u00a0 year, against to pebble\u2019s weekly charging batteries. SmartWatch from Sony, priced at $130 comes with a touchscreen. Motoactv from Motorola, consists of a heart rate monitor priced at $150 captured markets before Apple could make its entrance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Willow Glass<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Standing along the front row in the lines of wearing technology revolution is the scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass developed by Corning Incorporated(NYSE:GLW). Last October, the company had stated that Gorilla Glass which had been used by over a billion mobile appliances worldwide is still just on its second generation.<\/p>\n

Corning anticipates rollable and bendable Willow Glass, ready to be marketed in three years. Samples of this have been shipped to manufacturers of phone, tablets and tellys to analyse what next generation has to offer. Willow Glass, in a couple of years is predicted to be integrated into the makings of futuristic products like transparent smart bracelets owning to its rollablity.<\/p>\n

Although these products did endear the customers, and did a good effort in being the \u201capple\u201d of their eyes, the practicality of these products in daily life can be a conundrum. It\u2019s a rough sketch and we\u2019re fantasizing on, but the idea does sound tempting. Judging by the pattern, Apple\u2019s iWatch may not make it big, but Google\u2019s future looks hopeful.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The shares of Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) were up by 0.88% and currently trading at $813.30<\/p>\n

The shares of Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) were down by 1.07% and currently trading at $425.65<\/p>\n

The shares of Corning Incorporated(NYSE:GLW) were down by 1.28% and currently trading at $12.35<\/p>\n
