Boston, MA 02\/15\/2013 (wallstreetpr) – The New York Times reporter, John M. Broder, who reported a negative product review of accusations Tesla Motors Inc.\u2019s new Model S sedan has refuted Elon Musk\u2019s accusations that his story was fake.<\/p>\n
Broder had reported a personal narrative of his test drive for the latest model of the Model S electric vehicle on the an interstate route between Delaware and Connecticut, in a NY Times article, which read that contrary to the car maker\u2019s claims the vehicle was not fit to travel on long distance routes.<\/p>\n
On the second day of the two day long test drive, the car shut off due to power shortage and had to be \u201ctowed back\u201d to a nearby 480 volt recharge station on a flatbed truck, Broder claimed. Going by the company\u2019s claims on its website, the car could have easily covered the distance with the amount of available recharge still it broke many times on the way.<\/p>\n
Musk had refuted back saying Border did not follow the charging protocol correctly and also drove the car beyond its speed cap in the given hot weather conditions. He also said he would disclose the car\u2019s data logger records to the public.<\/p>\n
After a similar incident of bad product reviews few years back he had sued another TV channel. Losing that battle in the court of law he vowed, never again. The latest Model sedan cars are equipped with data logging systems that work almost like a black box on an airplane, recording charging time, battery status, recharge frequency and many other says during the travel and any detours.<\/p>\n
Last day, the company reported on its official website that as per the data logs the EV was never out of battery even when border called for a flatbed truck. He disconnected the recharge cable at a range display of 32 miles even when he knew that the last part of his travel would last no less than 61 miles. It further said, Broder also drove faster than he claimed in his article, the logs show.<\/p>\n
The article is not a factual representation of Tesla\u2019s technology which is can operate in \u201cboth hot and cold climates\u201d Musk wrote in the website post.<\/p>\n
Musk\u2019s broadest accuse me of having staged a sabotage \u201cthat is not so\u201d, Broder wrote today in an article. I \u201cdrove normally\u201d matching the speed of the prevailing traffic and was never briefed beforehand of any tips to enhance range by any of Tesla officials.<\/p>\n
