It might not have been a Sputnik moment, but Americans were unsettled to wake up to the news that\u00a0a\u00a0Chinese surveillance balloon<\/a> was sailing overhead, violating U.S. airspace. Their concern deepened when they learned this wasn\u2019t\u00a0the first time. Beijing has\u00a0used similar aerostats to surveil\u00a0U.S.\u00a0military installations in Guam and Hawaii and,\u00a0possibly,\u00a0strategic early warning sites in Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n

More shocking,\u00a0still,\u00a0was the response by the U.S. government. The Biden administration\u00a0<\/a>couldn’t seem to explain what was going on or how to respond\u00a0appropriately. If this were\u00a0just\u00a0an isolated\u00a0let-down, we might\u00a0be tempted to shrug it off and\u00a0go back to our morning coffee. But there is a troubling pattern emerging here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

China is the number-one strategic threat\u00a0facing the U.S.\u00a0Defending the homeland is\u00a0Washington\u2019s\u00a0number one responsibility. If you don’t believe me,\u00a0read President Biden’s National Defense Strategy; it says so right there.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This raises\u00a0an uncomfortable\u00a0question: What is happening with strategic intelligence under Biden, particularly when it comes to reading China? <\/p>\n

IF CHINESE SPY BALLOON ESCAPES US AIRSPACE, GET READY FOR AN EVEN BIGGER DISASTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Biden’s bad balloon day was not a one-off. Let’s review\u00a0some of his other Sino-intel\u00a0blunders.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been\u00a0more than\u00a0two years\u00a0since “COVID-19” entered our everyday vocabulary,\u00a0and still we have no clear\u00a0answer\u00a0to the question: What\u00a0was China’s role\u00a0in unleashing the virus on the world? After\u00a0years of denial,\u00a0some U.S. officials\u00a0now\u00a0admit the virus\u00a0may\u00a0well have leaked from a\u00a0Chinese\u00a0lab.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CHINA SPY BALLOON SHOWS COUNTRY IS PREPARING CITIZENS FOR WAR THAT COULD COME AT \u2018ANY TIME\u2019: EXPERT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Well, thanks,\u00a0but many folks figured that out\u00a0back in 2020.\u00a0By now, you\u2019d think\u00a0the government\u00a0could tell us all about the origin and spread of the disease<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Maybe they can\u2019t, maybe they won\u2019t. Either way, it\u2019s a disgrace.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How many nuclear weapons does China have? The U.S. government won’t tell you. That may be because they don’t know.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CHINA TO MORE THAN TRIPLE NUCLEAR WARHEAD STOCKPILE BY 2035, PENTAGON WARNS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The intelligence community will tell you that China is rapidly expanding\u00a0its strategic force, so much so that Beijing will\u00a0match\u2014or even overmatch\u2014Russia\u2019s nuclear\u00a0arsenal. Ours, too.\u00a0That\u2019s no intel coup.\u00a0Analysts using open source (unclassified)\u00a0documents and reports\u00a0have been telling us that for years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0The intelligence community\u00a0has no\u00a0consensus assessment\u00a0on this rather critical matter.\u00a0We have seen lots of dates thrown around,\u00a0but when you look into these\u00a0analyses, there\u2019s no accounting for how they came up with the date. There\u2019s got to be a better method than throwing darts at\u00a0a calendar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CHINESE VESSELS AND AIRCRAFT APPEAR IN TAIWANESE WATERS AND AIRSPACE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In retrospect, it’s absolutely clear that Beijing gave a green light to the Russian invasion<\/a>. Did we know that before the Russian invasion?\u00a0If we did,\u00a0why didn’t we call Beijing out?<\/strong>\u00a0And now that\u00a0we\u00a0do\u00a0know,\u00a0why\u00a0isn’t\u00a0Washington\u00a0making a big deal out of\u00a0it?<\/p>\n

Now we all know\u00a0that\u00a0Hunter’s laptop was,\u00a0well,\u00a0Hunter’s laptop<\/a>. And we know Hunter had\u00a0lots of\u00a0dealings with China. So where is the intelligence community\u2019s\u00a0assessment of\u00a0the national security risks that may have been exposed?\u00a0<\/p>\n

RATCLIFFE: HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP WAS A PARTISAN DOMESTIC ‘DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN’<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Did the community not produce one? If they didn’t,\u00a0that’s malfeasance. If they did,\u00a0where is it? You would think\u00a0that,\u00a0if they did one and\u00a0found\u00a0no issues,\u00a0it would be on the front page of the Washington Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If they\u00a0found some and\u00a0are withholding\u00a0that information\u2026\u00a0Well, that’s not comforting either.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When you connect all these dots, it\u2019s\u00a0not a pretty picture. Either the U.S.\u00a0intelligence community<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0not collecting\u00a0and assessing critical\u00a0information about the single greatest threat to our security, or they are refusing to share their conclusions?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Is that because it’s too important to share,\u00a0or there is nothing to share, or\u00a0it\u2019s politically inconvenient to share?\u00a0<\/p>\n

None of these answers\u00a0offers\u00a0much comfort about Biden’s stewardship <\/a>of the intelligence community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
