No member of Congress has done more to “weaponize” the House Intelligence Committee than Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, former chair Devin Nunes said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Nunes was responding to his former colleagues who claimed to have received death threats after Speaker Kevin McCarthy blocked their committee appointments<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

“There are two\u00a0people on the House Intelligence Committee that weaponized the House Intelligence Committee \u2014 there’s Bull-Schiff and Swalwell,” Nunes said in an interview on “The Story.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

MCCARTHY CONFIRMS SCHIFF, SWALWELL, OMAR WILL LOSE COMMITTEE SEATS<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The Democratic lawmakers accused McCarthy of “political vengeance” Tuesday after he stripped them of their committee assignments, citing national security concerns and misuse of the panel.<\/p>\n

Swalwell in turn blamed McCarthy’s rhetoric for inspiring death threats against them, but Nunes said the lawmakers have only themselves to blame for turning the once bipartisan panel into a divisive political tool.<\/p>\n

Nunes noted Schiff, ahead of the 2016 presidential election, was “running around the country” to convince everyone Trump was a Russian agent.<\/p>\n

“So you know, time and time\u00a0again, there hasn\u2019t been a day\u00a0that’s gone by that these guys\u00a0haven\u2019t been out there with a\u00a0crazy narrative that has\u00a0weaponized the intelligence\u00a0agencies across this country.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I still get people that will\u00a0come up to me and you can see\u00a0because their eyes will go crossways and they\u2019ll start to spit like, \u2018You\u2019re just one\u00a0of Putin\u2019s guys,\u2019” Nunes said. “This happens to me all the time. This is because of Schiff and\u00a0Swalwell.”<\/p>\n

“So the whole idea that you have\u00a0a guy like Swalwell saying, \u2018Oh,\u00a0he feels bad because now he\u2019s\u00a0getting death threats\u2019?\u00a0Welcome to the club, my friend.\u00a0Where the hell have you been?\u00a0You\u2019re the one that caused this\u00a0to happen to me and many of my\u00a0colleagues over the last many years.”<\/p>\n

HOUSE SPEAKER MCCARTHY REJECTS JEFFRIES’ DEMAND TO REAPPOINT SCHIFF, SWALWELL TO INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In a letter explaining his decision, McCarthy pointed to Swalwell\u2019s alleged prior relationship with suspected Chinese spy Christine Fang<\/a> and Schiff\u2019s alleged propensity for lying as reasons for keeping them off the committee.<\/p>\n

Nunes, who served as chairman of the committee at the time when Swalwell’s questionable associations were revealed, said he allowed the lawmaker to remain on the panel because “back in those days, it was more\u00a0bipartisan.”<\/p>\n

“You did try to work things out.\u00a0You had to make sure that\u00a0everything was working properly,” he said. “Since that time, remember, this\u00a0is a compounding of issues where the intelligence committee was\u00a0weaponized.”<\/p>\n

“When I was chairman\u2026\u00a0they went out and made up a\u00a0phony memo to protect the\u00a0corrupt cops at the DOJ and the FBI that ultimately we proved had\u00a0connections to the Clinton\u00a0campaign,” Nunes, who now serves as CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, continued. “We also went through the whole\u00a0Ukraine impeachment hoax\u2026 If you go right before the 2020 election\u00a0with the censorship by 51 former\u00a0intelligence and military\u00a0officials that guys like Adam\u00a0Schiff and Swalwell were\u00a0out in front of.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
