Lawmakers, fishermen and marine activists are calling for an investigation into whether offshore wind projects are killing marine life after a recent spate of dead whales washing up<\/a> along the New Jersey-New York coastline.<\/p>\n

Seafreeze fisheries liaison Meghan Lapp told Fox News that the Biden administration’s initiative to build wind farms to combat climate change<\/u><\/a> could be threatening the lives of whales as an increasing number have turned up dead in various states across the country.<\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t authoritatively say that all off the\u00a0whales that are washing up are\u00a0because of offshore wind farms.\u00a0But what I can tell you is that the seven whales that washed\u00a0up off New Jersey in the past month have all\u00a0washed up during intense\u00a0geotechnical surveying of wind farm leases\u00a0off of New Jersey,”\u00a0Lapp said Friday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”<\/p>\n

PUSH FOR WIND ENERGY IN THE WEST THREATENS GOLDEN EAGLES<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“On the East Coast, there has been\u00a0an unusual mortality event for\u00a0humpback whales from 2016 until\u00a0now,” she continued. “The only thing that has changed\u00a0in the ocean in that time is the\u00a0fact there have been offshore wind\u00a0surveys occurring from 2015\u00a0until now.\u00a0Now, magically there are a bunch\u00a0of humpback whales dying.”<\/p>\n

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., earlier Friday called for an investigation<\/a> to determine whether the survey work for building offshore wind turbines is causing harm to marine life, demanding the cessation of “all offshore wind activity” until an investigation is conducted.<\/p>\n

Lapp echoed the lawmaker’s call for an investigation, telling Carlson that the “intense sound” caused by such projects could be to blame for the recent spike in whale deaths.<\/p>\n

“The only thing that changed in\u00a0the ocean is the surveying\u00a0activities that have been going on for\u00a0offshore wind farms which are\u00a0essentially carpet bombing the ocean floor\u00a0with intense sound,” she said.<\/p>\n

“They need to take a very hard look at\u00a0this.\u00a0We know that intense sound can\u00a0cause bleeding in the eardrums\u00a0of whales and lesions in their ears. Now all of a sudden you have\u00a0offshore wind farm surveys and\u00a0you see them stranded on the beaches,” Lapp added.<\/p>\n

‘TUCKER CARLSON ORIGINALS UNCOVERS HOW WIND ENERGY IS DESTROYING LANDSCAPE, LIVELIHOODS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Lapp warned about the impact of wind turbines in a recent episode of “Tucker Carlson Originals, titled “Blown Away: The People Vs Wind Power,”<\/u><\/a> where the Fox News host and his production crew examined how turbines have the capability to decimate wildlife.<\/p>\n

The project has been a key piece of the Biden administration’s climate agenda as they continue to push for clean energy development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In July, Biden argued that offshore wind would create jobs and power millions of homes in the future. And the Department of Interior has expanded plans for offshore lease sales for wind development along the nation’s eastern and western coastlines and in the Gulf of Mexico. But Lapp said the environmental impact of the project should be thoroughly examined by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration before the project can move forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Nobody is reporting on this.\u00a0Nobody is looking at this with a critical eye and really there needs to be a suspension\u00a0of these surveys until somebody\u00a0can do an investigation,” she said.<\/p>\n
