A “sweet, friendly” Weimaraner\/Staffordshire terrier mix<\/a> is looking for a home in the new year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Seven-year-old Theodosia is available for adoption at the Best Friends Animal Society\u2019s Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Theodosia was originally at the Hurricane Animal Shelter in Hurricane, Utah.<\/p>\n

CAT WITHOUT A HOME, NAMED MS. CRABTREE, NEEDS A NEW FAMILY TO LOVE HER<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“Theodosia might look serious in her photo, but she is a sweet, friendly girl who wants to greet all the people she meets,” said the staff at the Best Friends Animal Society\u2019s Sanctuary.<\/p>\n

The dog “won the hearts of staff and volunteer very quickly upon her arrival” and has “nothing but love, tail wags, and kisses for everyone she met.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

She “has some arthritis but still enjoys her walks,” said the shelter.<\/p>\n

“Theodosia likes to relax on cozy beds and is currently residing in one of our \u2018dogtown\u2019 offices, where she supervises our work.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Theodosia is “the perfect sidekick for leisurely strolls,” and “loves going for car rides,” the group added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“She\u2019s quite the fashionista, happily playing dress up with clothes and accessories,” the shelter also said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to offering companionship, a new pet adopted in January can help with a New Year’s resolution<\/a>, said Best Friends Animal Society. <\/p>\n

Theodosia also “really longs for a home where she can be someone’s special girl 24\/7.”<\/p>\n

“The New Year is a great time to adopt or foster a new best friend,” the organization shared in a press release.<\/p>\n

For those looking to exercise more, an active dog can serve as a personal trainer<\/a>, the organization noted in its release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Walking at a vigorous pace for just 30 minutes, five times a week, can provide the moderately intensive cardiovascular exercise most physicians recommend,” the staff also said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some cats, too, enjoy walks outside on a leash or in a stroller.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“<\/strong>Spending quality time with your pets has been shown to lessen anxiety, lower blood pressure and boost your immune system \u2014 health benefits many of us can use!”<\/p>\n

Best Friends Animal Society is looking to make 2023 a better year for shelter pets.<\/p>\n

“National data trends show that 2022 has been a tough year for shelters. Across the country, shelters are struggling with higher intake, while adoptions, fosters and rescues are not keeping pace.”<\/p>\n

With the lack of adoptions and strain on staff, “pets are more at risk for being killed due to a lack fo space.”<\/p>\n
