Twitter users rejoiced on Wednesday when CEO Elon Musk declared <\/a>that ‘cancel culture needs to be canceled.’<\/p>\n

Musk tweeted, “Cancel culture needs to be canceled!!” in response to a clip from CNBC’s “Squawk Box”.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The CNBC host Joe Kernen spoke to AEI president emeritus Arthur Brooks about criticism Musk has faced since his acquisition of Twitter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kernen observed how the country is being torn into two and the two sides are moving “further apart.”<\/p>\n

“We are so far apart on how we view the world, Arthur. Is this Twitter\u2019s fault in the first place?” he asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ELON MUSK SCORCHES MEDIA FOR BEING \u2018AGAINST FREE SPEECH,\u2019 ASKING WH TO MONITOR TWITTER: \u2018THIS IS MESSED UP\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Brooks responded that most Americans are not interested in the culture war and how it is a small percentage driving this friction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0“Three percent of your employees are activists instead of working, and they\u2019re blowing up your Slack channel right now demanding that you get involved in a culture war and make political statements. Don\u2019t do it!” Brooks warned viewers. “The rest of your employees are feeling bullied as well. Their co-workers are being bullied by these activists, it\u2019s time for us to say \u2018I will not be conscripted into America\u2019s culture war!.”<\/p>\n

He continued, “We don\u2019t hate each other in this country-I\u2019ve got the data Joe. Ninety-three percent of Americans say they hate how divided we\u2019ve become<\/a> as a country, those other 7% that doesn\u2019t hate it, those are the activists saying if you buy a Tesla it means that somehow you believe in hate speech, it\u2019s completely absurd, and it\u2019s total bullying.”<\/p>\n

WHITE HOUSE SLAMMED FOR PLEDGING TO KEEP A ‘CLOSE EYE’ ON ‘DISINFORMATION’ ON TWITTER: ‘ABSOLUTELY INSANE’<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Many commentators rejoiced at Musk’s tweet, praising it or offering their own ideas about what should be done going forward.<\/p>\n

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton tweeted, “Defund cancel culture. Billions behind it, including tax dollars.”<\/p>\n

“Then free all the banned accounts!” conservative commentator Lavern Spicer tweeted.<\/p>\n

New York Times best-selling author James Hirsen warned, “If Apple tries to cancel this guy\u2019s social media company, Apple needs to be canceled.”<\/p>\n

Radio producer Heather Hunter suggested that the people who go out of their way to express hatred all too often are politically intolerant themselves.<\/p>\n

“If I had a dollar for all of the \u2018Hate Has No Home Here\u2019 signs in the DC area neighborhoods, I would be rich. You have never met a more hateful and intolerant people than people who want to call everyone else hateful,” she wrote.<\/p>\n
