The company’s VP for public policy and government affairs for Canada and the US, Mark Isakowitz stated that when people search for abortion facilities near them, the results will show locations that have been verified to provide the services.<\/p>\n
According to Isakowitz, the internet giant will also enable users to expand their search to include relevant results from businesses that don’t offer abortions.<\/p>\n
Google’s statement comes in response to a letter from Warner and Slotkin, dated June 17, asking Alphabet\u00a0Chief Executive Sundar Pichai to stop Google searches from tricking people into visiting anti-abortion facilities.<\/p>\n
Following Roe’s overturn, around half of the American states have attempted to outlaw or restrict abortions or are anticipated to do so. In addition, Texas, Idaho, and 11 additional states include “trigger” laws that forbid abortion upon making such a decision.<\/p>\n
