Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL)<\/b> has confirmed that its employees can use company benefits for out-of-state travel for medical care. The iPhone maker said that this benefit is available to those workers that have been with the company for ten years.<\/p>\n

The proclamation comes as big companies across the country, including Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG)<\/b>, and Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META<\/b>), commit to paying for their workers to travel to procure abortions if they are in states where it is not allowed following supreme Court\u2019s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, to do away with the federal right to abortion. The decision bans abortion in most states, although it is presently facing opposition from various quarters.<\/p>\n
A company spokesperson told CNBC, \u201cAs we\u2019ve said before, we support our employees\u2019 rights to make their own decisions regarding their reproductive health. For more than a decade, Apple\u2019s comprehensive benefits have allowed our employees to travel out-of-state for medical care if it is unavailable in their home state.\u201d<\/p>\n
In an internal memo dated September, the company indicated that it was following legal proceedings regarding abortion laws in Texas. Apple said at the time that its benefits offer employees the ability to receive out-of-state medical care if the service they are looking for is not available in their home state.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade also highlighted health applications and the growing concern regarding the information they collect, like tracking the menstrual cycle, which some proponents state can be sued in prosecuting individuals seeking abortions in states where it is not allowed.<\/p>\n
Although Apple\u2019s Health application has the cycle tracking functionality, the company cannot see data collected even if it is uploaded to its servers for backup.
