China Mobile\u00a0has pulled out from purchasing equipment from non-Chinese suppliers, creating a barrier for ERIC and NOK.<\/span><\/p>\n

In July, China Mobile Ltd., a government-owned wireless carrier, was awarded\u00a0 5.4% of its latest 5G-equipment tenders to non-Chinese suppliers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2020 the giant wireless carrier was awarded 11% of the 5G equipment tenders. China Mobile Ltd. has the most significant number of subscribers in the whole world. Sweden’s ERIC was the biggest loser which fell from 11% in 2020 to 1.9% this year\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the tender,\u00a0 which was about $6 billion, China Mobile gave 60.5% of the total value to Huawei, 31.2% to ZTE, and 2.8% to China’s Datang Telecom Group. NOK’s had the most significant foreign share of\u00a0 3.5%.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that means both NOK and ERIC will miss a lot on the world’s most growing\u00a0 5G rollout this year. The Global cellular market has three equal segments, which comprise China, the U.S., and the rest of the world. The global cellular market is worth 35 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why has Beijing shunned ERIC and NOK?<\/b><\/p>\n

China had previously threatened Sweden that it should uplift its ban for Huawei 5G. Failure of Sweden to encourage the ban, China will retaliate by banning ERIC and NOK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Swedish regulators had banned their wireless carriers from using Huawei’s 5G equipment in October.<\/span>\u00a0In addition to this, the Sweden regulators said that their operators of existing networks should remove Huawei’s 5G by 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The regulators explained it to be a matter of national security. They added that their decision is because<\/span> of assessments by their military and security service.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Four companies which were approved to participate in the 3.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz auctions were also warned not to use Huawei’s 5G\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
