Iwatani wants to expand the number of retail hydrogen fuelling stations in South California by almost 25%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expanding hydrogen-fuelling infrastructure in California <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The expansion will represent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h2-view.com\/story\/iwatani-toyota-to-bring-seven-new-hydrogen-stations-to-california\/#:~:text=Iwatani%2C%20Toyota%20to%20bring%20seven%20new%20hydrogen%20stations%20to%20California,-By%20Joanna%20Sampson&amp;text=Iwatani%20Corporation%20of%20America%20is,Southern%20California%20by%20mid%2D2021.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">6,300 KG per day increase<\/a> in hydrogen fuel dispensing capacity. The company expects construction of the new stations to commence in early next year with the commissioning of the first stations anticipated in mid-2021. The seven fuel stations Iwatani is constructing will be available to the public offering hydrogen fuel to customers to support the burgeoning demand for zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly, the new stations will deploy the latest H2Station hydrogen fuel dispensing tech offered by Nel Hydrogen. Every station will have two fuelling areas with each portion capable of supplying hydrogen of around 900 kilograms per day. The expansion becomes Iwatani&#8217;s largest investment in California and will bring its total hydrogen fuelling station network globally to 64.<\/p>\n<p>Iwatani Corporation of America\u2019s CEO, Joseph Cappello, said that they are pleased to collaborate with Nel Hydrogen and Toyota to deliver hydrogen fuelling tech to customers in the California market. He added that the new seven stations reflect the commitment of the company is investing in the heavy and light-duty hydrogen infrastructure in California.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Toyota expects 2021 Toyota Mirai later this year <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Toyota Motor North America&#8217;s group corporate strategy and planning VP, Doug Murtha, the expansion of the hydrogen fuel stations in California is proof of growing demand for zero-emission cars. He said that they are looking forward to supporting Iwatani America in the next phase.
