The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains across the globe and Coca-Cola European Partners plc (NYSE:CCEP)<\/strong>, which bottles Coca-Cola in 13 countries, had to keep up with these disruptions.<\/p>\n

Cultural change to adapt to a new norm<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nico Orie, the company’s VP of People and Culture, indicates that they had to make cultural and technological changes to manage productivity, employee safety, and business continuity in the wake of the pandemic. With Europe experiencing a second wave of the virus, Orie said that they have a hybrid approach to work with processes and safety procedures for supply chain<\/a> employees, with office workers working remotely in most cases. The ServiceNow workplace safety suite is managing the choreography.<\/p>\n

During the pandemic, most of Coca-Cola European Partners’ supply chain workforce has been working. Orie confirmed that they had done a fantastic job ensuring customers and consumers can access their favorite beverages. He also said that the company’s commercial teams have been on the road whenever possible.<\/p>\n

It is a mixed picture for office workers considering the company operates in 30 countries, and this depends on lockdown measures where in some you have full or semi lockdowns. Orie said that they have the health and safety of employees first and although the company already a good track record, they still enhanced safety.<\/p>\n

The company didn\u2019t shift to high tech approaches <\/strong><\/p>\n

Coca-Cola European Partners didn\u2019t move to high tech with over-engineering approaches and proximity detectors since COVID-19 safety is more about culture and process. The company created a platform for people where they will sign up to return to work. There is a process of allocating the request to the right place in the office after one has shown intent. The main functionality that the company employed is ServiceNow for allocating workspaces<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The use of technology in the supply chain is low as the company has laid down checking into the workplace with employees going through specific procedures.
