Despite losing, the Chinese company may be part of the broader ecosystem build-up but at a limited capacity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nokia and Ericsson win to build Singapore\u2019s 5G Network <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Infocomm Media Development Authority gave the final approval to local telcos to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejakartapost.com\/news\/2020\/06\/29\/huawei-loses-out-in-singapore-5g-bid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">start the building of the nationwide 5G network<\/a>. Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) and a StarHub and M1 joint venture won the right to build the country&#8217;s 5Gnetwokr in April, and the regulator finalized the contract in April. 5G is the latest high-speed network that will provide more bandwidth and enhanced data speeds to enable several technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Singtel indicated that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/singapore-finalizes-5g-contract-winners-nokia-and-ericsson-named-suppliers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">picked Ericsson as the main vendor of 5G SA Core<\/a>, mmWave network, and RAN. On the other hand, the Starhub and M1 JV said that they had picked Nokia as the preferred tech partner in the build-up of its 5G network. According to sources, the JV may be exploring some network elements suppliers from Huawei, Nokia, and ZTE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Singapore targeting 2025 for full deployment of 5G<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s communications and information minister S Iswaran stated that the 5G Final Awards brings to an end of a rigorous and solid CFP process. Iswaran added that with the finalizing of the award of contract, everything is now set to develop a resilient, secure, and world-class 5G infrastructure that will support the country&#8217;s digital economy. The minister added that the country is on track to have a 5G network by 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The minister confirmed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/06\/25\/huawei-loses-out-to-nokia-ericsson-in-building-singapores-main-5g-networks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">country didn&#8217;t prevent Huawei from taking part<\/a> in its 5G infrastructure. He added that some of the telcos were willing to work with some Chinese companies like ZTE in developing some parts of the network.
