Other than the booked drivers operate thousands of trips in the British Capital, causing safety risks to the passengers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Uber shares decline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uber\u2019s license to operate in London expires on Monday midnight. It is not the first time; the ridesharing company faces this issue. According to a communiqu\u00e9, it will appeal and continue the operations until a final decision arrives. Chief Executive Officer of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, said the decision of the authorities is wrong. The shares of Uber fell by 1.52% after the decision of London Transport authorities decided not to renew the license. The share decline would cause a loss of $3 billion for Uber. It would send a wrong signal to the investors.<\/p>\n<p>Uber serves 3.5 million customers in London and employs 45,000 drivers. It is well known among the users in the British Capital. The company said it changed the business strategy and gave importance to the safety of the passengers. However, the Transport authority needs more from the ridesharing company to renew the license. According to the regulator, Uber allowed uploading of the photos of unauthorized drivers into its other accounts and conducted 14,000 trips with those drivers, who are earlier suspended or dismissed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Uber faces regulatory scrutiny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uber is facing regulatory scrutiny for relying on an approach to enter the cities worldwide and the US markets. It amasses the users and allows the politicians to tackle its issues. The share riding company launched its services in the cities that range from New York to Portland without receiving prior approval. It has faced several battles with the US regulators to get the permit for operation.<\/p>\n<p>California regulators asked Uber to close down the self-driving program in 2016 because it has not received the permit. The company launched the service later in California. Uber pulled out its autonomous services for some time because the regulators issued a decree stating the program is illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Uber opposes the regulations and paying heavily for its defiance later. In 2016, the company pulled out its services from Austin, Texas, because it failed to meet the fingerprint-based mandatory checks for the drivers. It later returned to the city in 2017 after the state lifted the requirement.
