(OTCQB: VCBD) may be near a one-year low, but optimism about the future must be running high with NFL star and 4-time Super Bowl Champion Eric Wright coming on board this week as a Founding Ambassador.\u00a0 Vitalibis is a technology-based formulator of premium phytocannabinoid-rich hemp products with naturally occurring cannabidiol, or CBD.<\/p>\n
The Las Vegas-based company has earned acclaims from the likes of Thrive Global and Green Entrepreneur for its patent-pending extraction process that prevents damage of cannabinoids or terpenes, making the products potent and safe.\u00a0 \u00a0The Vitalibis product bag presently consists of health and wellness products ranging from oils to body creams.<\/p>\n
Wright, who retired from the NFL in 1990 after an All-Pro career, remains active in the NFL community today.\u00a0 Amongst other things, he is involved in the league\u2019s concussion protocol program and serves as an alumni coordinator for his old team, the San Francisco 49ers.<\/p>\n
Eric Cortez Wright, who is considered by some as one of the finest cornerbacks of all time, should not be confused with Eric Andrew Wright, who went to USC and UNLV and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2007.\u00a0 E.A. Wright, once a great prospect with a bevy of off-field struggles, also played DB and was a member of the 49ers briefly before his retirement in 2014.<\/p>\n
In his new role with Vitalibis, Wright is tasked with brand awareness, driving sales and spearheading additional collaborations for continued growth.<\/p>\n
CBD has underpinned large portions of the so-called \u201cgreen rush,\u201d as countries worldwide legalize cannabis and its cousin, hemp.\u00a0 CBD is a constituent of the plants and widely acclaimed for it medicinal benefits, including alleviating pain, without the psychoactive high commonly associated with marijuana.\u00a0 The high is the result of ingesting THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a different cannabis component.<\/p>\n
Hemp is clearly differentiated from cannabis insomuch that it doesn\u2019t contain THC at all.\u00a0Industrial hemp became legal nationwide in the U.S. this year with the passage of the Farm Bill, opening up a superhighway of commerce opportunities.<\/p>\n
As an \u201cavid user\u201d of Vitalabis products, Wright called partnering with Vitalibis a natural fit in Wednesday morning\u2019s news release.\u00a0 \u201cVitalibis\u2019 hemp-based wellness products have made a significant difference in my quality of life, helping me overcome aches and pains from my days in the NFL,\u201d Wright said, adding that he will be sharing his experience throughout his network.<\/p>\n
Shares of VCBD, which are generally thinly traded, closed trading Tuesday at 75 cents, down about 55% so far in 2019.<\/p>\n
