The company has already reached a deal with General Motors, for the system to be used in the 2016 Cadillac CT6. The vehicle would be available in the market sometime in the 1Q2016, but the rear-vision system would be charged separately. Furthermore, the system was also put to test during a 24-hour drive of Le Mans, in a Nissan GT-R.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The system essentially consists of a camera at the back of the vehicle, which provides a live-feed, integrated in the mirror. A second deal has also been reached with the Nissan Motorsports team, which would allow the system to be installed on LM P1 race cars. These vehicles would then be put through demanding track conditions for further testing. The director of marketing at GNTX, Craig Piersma, stated that the partnership with Nissan will ensure that the rear-vision system provides optimal performance to the driver. Tests performed under the driving conditions at Le Mans, will make sure that the system has quick response system for tough driving conditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A pre-installed switch in the vehicle would be used to transform the rear-view mirror into a high-tech vision system. The image processing software quickly processes the input from the rear-view camera, to provide a panoramic view on the display. Mr. Piersma also hinted at a possible upcoming deal with BMW, but did not specify the vehicle. Gentex has slowly been developing technologies that would be used in self-driving cars, once they go into mass production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GNTX also manufactures automatically dimming rear-view mirrors, which provide better safety to drivers while driving at night. Nissan believes that this technology combined with the rear-vision system would be the ultimate safety solution for night time drivers. The majority of brokerage firms have rated GNTX as a strong buy, with an average price rating of $18.14. Currently, insider ownership of the company stands at 2.6%, while institutional investors own 84.1% of the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ:GNTX) recorded a loss of 0.19% to its share value during the September 23 session, to close at a stock price of $15.45.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ:GNTX) has launched its state of the art rear-vision system.
