(NASDAQ:PTIE)<\/strong> has been making quite a few updates to its drug portfolio. The company announced that it would be resuming the control of REMOXY, after reaching an agreement with <strong>Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)<\/strong>. Additionally, the company has also been conducting research on how it can use the drug to lower human abuse potential. The management has also been growing impatient with the developments of the company and to make it up, there should be a lot of news from the company and its drug candidates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company management has already set out milestones to refilling the REMOXY NDA, announcement of results from the abuse deterrent pain patch and a non-dilutive drug development funding. The re-filing for REMOXY is due to be made in 1Q2016. REMOXY had previously been sponsored, but the results had failed to deliver.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, new studies conducted by Pain Therapeutics itself, have shown promising results for a category 3 Human Abuse Potential filing. A total of 60 subjects were part of the study, whose average age was 27-years. It was found that all subjects were unable to chew the drug for a total of 5 minutes, due to high viscosity and taste of the drug. It was a clear indication that REMOXY would not result in drug misuse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The previous sponsor for the drug was Pfizer, which has now transferred the data, documents and regulatory responsibilities of the drug to Pain Therapeutics. The transition will, however, be completed by end of 2Q2015. Now PTIE is looking the deficiencies in the drug that have been found in the results provided by Pfizer. The company hopes to make amendments before refilling for the NDA, which it hopes will get approved this time. It should be kept in mind that REMOXY is the lead drug candidate for PTIE.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pain Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PTIE) closed at $2.62, after gaining 35.05% on May 12. The company has 45.76 million shares being traded in the market, with a 52-week range of $1.61-$6.22.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pain Therapeutics, Inc.
