(NASDAQ:AAPL) For Using Its Patents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Touted as the most-talked about battle of the tech industry, <strong>Ericsson (ADR) (NASDAQ:ERIC) <\/strong>has sued <strong>Apple Inc. <\/strong><strong>(NASDAQ:AAPL)<\/strong> for using some of its patents without permission. Reportedly, the company has filed a court case in UK, Germany and Netherlands against Apple for using the second and fourth generation technology of Ericsson. Even as Apple did not comment on the legal filing, head of intellectual property at Ericsson, Kasim Alfalahi said that the Ericsson technology was used in many communication devices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the company, the iPhone, iPad and other related products of Apple were illegally using the patent technologies like the 2G and 4G LTE standards even after January. The license agreement between the two companies had expired in January 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ericsson Technology Patents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company has over 35,000 patents in the mobile industry. Apple has been using the chip design, video streaming, app access technology of the company, alleged the company. Kasim stated that Apple was garnering profits from using their technology without any license and that this was inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As per the analysts, if Ericsson wins the case of the patent rights, Apple would have to pay it around $725 million every year. Ericsson had earlier sought a mutual agreement with Apple as the latter argued that the former was exploiting its patent rights to take credit for the new technologies developed by Apple. Ericsson has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to block the iPhone in the nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Beginning of Crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In January 2015, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has complained over the patent issues with Ericsson and said that they had sought legal help as Ericsson was not coming at fair terms on its patents. It seems that Ericsson is heating up that battle now and the fate of these companies will have a huge impact on the tech industry on the whole. This patent war will also offer an advantage to their competitors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A similar battle was also fought between Ericsson and Samsung and the latter had to claim the damages.
