The problem began in the early evening Friday on East coast. The outage was caused due to a failure during daily system refresh. The outage resulted in Starbucks across North America not being able to process orders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Friday night, Starbucks stores across North America saw its registers shutting down. This caused a halt in sales. The problem was later resolved by Starbucks. The company stated that the problem was caused due to an internal glitch not due to an external breach. At the same time, many customers reported getting free drinks at Starbucks while others reported their local Starbucks being closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement, the company said that all point of sale register outage had been resolved, and Starbucks stores in North America are expected to open for business as usual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The outage also affected Starbucks\u2019 Teavana and Evolution Fresh stores. Some of the company\u2019s stores closed early due to the malfunction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company in its latest annual securities filing stated that the company experienced frequent attempts to compromise its IT systems, but none have resulted in a material breach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to reports, some of the stores were handing out drinks for free while others were closed because they could not accept payment. Many social media users also reported that the company\u2019s computer system was down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company operates one of the biggest retail networks in America and has expanded to many companies across the world. The company has more than 22,000 stores worldwide and serve millions of customers everyday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Thursday Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) posted a total revenue of $4.56 billion for 2Q, this is a hike of 18% from the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not every store was affected by the outage.
