(NYSE:IBM) Inaugurates Second SoftLayer Datacenter in the Netherlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a bid to offer disaster recovery services and greater redundancy, SoftLayer has inaugurated 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Data Center in Almere, the Netherlands. SoftLayer, a subsidiary of the <strong>International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM)<\/strong>, helps to meet the promise of IBM to deliver high-value services to the doorstep of its customers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IBM has marked the opening of its 13<sup>th<\/sup> datacenter in the world to increase its presence in the public cloud laaS. The Netherlands-based IBM&#8217;s cloud push has a capacity of 8,000 servers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new initiative is on the backdrop of IBM\u2019s plans announced last year to expand the cloud datacenters with a capital of $1.2 billion. According to IBM, around 15 new datacenters will be established worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the recent past, the company has increased its foothold in Paris, London, and Frankfurt through establishing additional datacenters. IBM also has established larger datacenters in the U.S., Australia, and Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IBM has also announced investment plans of $3 billion to enhance internet of things capabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IBM is a late entrant in the cloud field. <strong>Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)<\/strong>, <strong>Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN)<\/strong>\u2019s Web Services and <strong>Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)<\/strong> already has a considerable presence in the cloud field. However, IBM&#8217;s latest initiative is based on the trust of customers on its capabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IBM has purchased SoftLayer in a deal valued at $2 billion in the year 2013 with an aim to grab a small slice of the cloud market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The market for the cloud services is expected to reach $200 billion by 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Google Inks $600 million Datacenter deal<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Netherlands has been fortunate to attract considerable investments from Google. Google has entered into a $600 million worth datacenter contract for ten years. The new datacenter will use locally generated wind energy for its operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The internet giant has already established similar accords in Sweden for Hamina based Finnish datacenter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A myriad of cloud companies from the U.S. have already established datacenters in Europe. <strong>Apple Inc.
