(NYSE:SD)<\/strong>, like many other oil and gas companies, has been in a state of crisis. The company has been facing problems not only from the falling oil prices, but internally as well. Initially, SandRidge had invested billions of dollars to make itself an oil focused company. The plan had worked during that time, with the company reporting 80% of its Mississippian cash flow coming from oil. Unfortunately, current conditions now demand that SandRidge moves back towards gas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SandRidge has already cut back its funding towards oil, halting some of its major growth plans. This also means that the company would be dropping the number of operating oil rigs from 19 to just 7. The company had initially predicted this year\u2019s growth to reach at least 20%, but that now seems to be falling to a mere 6%. SandRidge is currently looking to drop its oil production by 12%, while increasing NGL production to 35%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the drilling positions have not been changed, it can only be assumed that SandRidge is targeting its most prospective sites to increase NGL production. Additionally, the company is also focusing on cutting operational costs as well. In a recent announcement SD revealed that it will be laying-off a fifth of its employees, from its HQ alone. The announcement was made by CEO, James Bennett. The announcement is the second lay-off the company has conducted this year, previously it had fired 265 employees from its Permian Basin, West Texas office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Bennett stated that the steps are being taken while keeping in mind the current market conditions. He also said that this was being done to preserve the financial strength of SandRidge Energy Inc. (NYSE:SD). In order to move forward we need to align the size of our work force with the realities of lower commodity price, reduce the capital and focus on innovation and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SandRidge Energy Inc. (NYSE:SD) closed at $1.87 after losing 2.86% on April 22. The company currently trades 483.84 million shares in the market, with a 52-week range of $1.13-$7.43.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SandRidge Energy Inc.
