(NASDAQ:AMKR)<\/strong> reported two judgments concerning its <strong>Tessera Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSRA)<\/strong> case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amkor.com\/index.cfm?objectid=4347CBFB-B5DC-CB69-FD0F984EDEDB7502\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a> yesterday, the semiconductor packaging company announced two rulings related to its quarrel with Tessera. The company said that on Friday, Oct 10, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office\u2019s department of Patent Trial and Appeal Board announced its ruling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Decision <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the news, the conducted inter parties review proceedings resulted in a definitive judgment for the company\u2019s petition. The IPR ruled on Amkor\u2019s plea to cancel some specific terms of the U.S. Patent No. 6,046,076. The decision was based on a two-one judgment in which the IPR board altered its initial decision. The panel reversed the initial statement and declined to accept Amkor\u2019s request that were concerned with the most material arguments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As already announced an arbitration team ruled in favor of Tessera Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSRA) and granted it royalties of as much as $113 million. According to the ruling, Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR) is also liable to pay additional money as interest to Tessera on the pretext of alleging the mentioned patent. Amkor has been alleged to violate Tessera\u2019s \u2018076 patent. In this context, San Francisco\u2019s Superior Court also formally confirmed the decision formed by the arbitration panel on Oct 9. The Superior Court supports the ruling that Amkor is due to pay to the sum of $113 million, along with interest, to Tessera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Company\u2019s Dissatisfaction <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR)\u2019s Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Gil Tily, commented that the company seeks to explore further venues to appeal against the judgment. He said that the Superior Court and IPR board\u2019s decisions are erroneous.
