(NYSE:R)<\/strong> disclosed that its Board has given its approval for maintaining its quarterly cash dividend rate of 37 cents a share. This is the second straight quarter that the company has maintained its dividend rate. However, the steady increase in the dividend rate in the last nine straight years, though small, translated into growth rate in three-year, as well as, five-year periods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dividend Payment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE:R)\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/ryder-declares-quarterly-cash-dividend-210500877.html\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a>, it has fixed the date for the record of November 17 to determine the eligible shareholders name for receiving the dividend. It would be paying a dividend on December 19 to all the shareholders\u2019. The stock would turn into ex-dividend on November 13.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On an annualized basis, the latest dividend worked out to $1.48 a share. Its current dividend rate represented a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dividendinvestor.com\/?chk=be5681413160594&amp;symbol=r&amp;submit=GO\" target=\"_blank\">yield<\/a> of 1.8%, which was lower than the average dividend yield of the five-year period of 2.30%. However, the estimated ten-year dividend yield was significantly higher at 4.44%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company\u2019s dividend payout ratio was 28.0% for the latest dividend, which was also lower than the average five-year dividend payout ratio of 34.00%. This suggests that there could be room for increasing the dividend rate in the coming quarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Growth And History<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company stated that it has been paying dividend for 38 years uninterruptedly. Alternatively, it has been paying a dividend for the 153<sup>rd<\/sup> straight quarters. As per <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasdaq.com\/symbol\/r\/dividend-history\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq data<\/a>, Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE:R) has paid a dividend of 15 cents a share in 2004. It increased it to 16 cents a share in 2005 and by two cents a share in the following year. In 2007, the company lifted its dividend by three cents a share to 21 cents a share.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the year 2008, the company was increasing the dividend rate by two cents a share every year till May 2013. In August last year, Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE:R) increased the dividend by three cents a share to 34 cents and another three cents a share to 37 cents in August in the current year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a result of steady increase in the dividend rate, its average dividend growth rate for the three-year and five-year periods were 8.12% and 8.14% respectively.
