(NASDAQ:AAPL)<\/strong> has over the years been perceived as a small player in the PC business, compared to its Peers in the space. Its PCs have always been associated with the high-end market due to their high price-tags when compared to cheaper options offered by the likes of Lenovo and <strong>Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Improved Market Share<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If IDC estimates are anything to go by, then Apple is slowly making a push for market share in the space. IDC estimates that the company\u2019s market share jumped to 6.3%, a margin it has never tasted over the past ten years. The current market share positions Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as the fifth largest, PC-maker in the world. Its market-share is still a shadow of Lenovo\u2019s 20% and HP which comes in second at 18.8%. Del occupies the third spot with 13.3 market-shares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slight price cuts complimented by improved demand in more mature markets according to ICDC might have played a significant role in allowing Apple increase its market share in the space. There are still arguments that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) enjoys popularity in the U.S and might have been beaten for the fifth spot by Asus according to research by Gartner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People could argue that Apple\u2019s market share comes down to the fact that its products face minimal opposition in the high need markets. If one is willing to spend $1000 on a computer, there is no doubt they will always go for a Mac without having to consider what other players are providing on the same price range.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Minimal Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Majority of Apple\u2019s competitors have failed to convince consumers on the high-end that their products are superior to Apple\u2019s. There are those of the opinion that Apple Inc.
