It additionally announced a second shift at its Kansas City Assembly Facility, where it is building all the new Ford Transit. According to a news <a href=\"http:\/\/research.tdwaterhouse.ca\/research\/public\/Markets\/NewsArticle\/100-268b1543-1\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a>, the shift allows the company to create new jobs, and hence fulfill its long-term commitment. In this context, Ford\u2019s President, Joe Hinrichs, said that Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) enjoys a strong alliance with UAW and the latest achievement highlights the bond between them. He also said that the job growth marks not only the union\u2019s competitiveness, but also an increasing demand for the company\u2019s vehicles. He emphasized that the second shift will help Ford to deliver increased number of Transit vehicles to North America.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Creating Job Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Kansas City Assembly Facility already provided employment to as many as 2,800 people in the region.\u00a0Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) had added more jobs to the plant in 2012 and 2013 to assists the launch of its Transit vehicle. It also helped in the increased production of the Ford F-150. Ford expects the plant to employ over 6,000 hourly workers by year-end. The work will be on a two-shift basis for the production of the Transit units while, for the F-150, it will be on a three-shift basis. Not only this, Ford has increased employment in other parts of the country to around 14,000 since its initial negations with the UAW in 2011.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2011, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) had made a $1.1 billion investment to expand and restructure the Kansas facility. It demanded increasing the stamping facility and paint shop by 437,000 square foot and 78,000 sq. foot, respectively.
