In the current year alone, the latest award marked third big award presented by the EPA. Earlier, it was awarded for the WasteWise Partner of the Year and the Climate Leadership Awards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Managing electronics waste was a big issue in the current atmosphere with technology dishing out several updated devices every day making the existing one an obsolete. As a result, over two million tons of electronic wastes were thrown away by the U.S. citizens every year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company played a key role in unveiling the SMM Electronics Challenge a couple of years ago to address the persistent discarded electronics issue. It aligned with retailers and original equipment makers, and the company was of the eight companies to answer the call of EPA to voluntarily increase the amount of collected electronic waste.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participants were asked to send 100% of collected used electronic wastes to third-party certified recycle and inform publicly. Sprint said that the certifications were issued based on strict standards for the environmental issue for used electronics that optimizes the reuse and recycling apart from minimizing exposure to the environment or human health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Management Speaks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) Vice President of Product Operations, Jeff Auman, said that it was proud to be an inaugural receipt of the award. He said that device recycling and reuse plays an important role in its success and helps the company to reduce its environmental footprint.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He disclosed that the company\u2019s initiative of buyback program helped avoid over $1 billion costs and on top of that it could payback over $100 million to its
