The film grabbed $32.5 million from the sale of tickets in Canada and the U.S. at the #2 position was <strong>Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA)<\/strong> Universal Pictures\u2019 thriller, \u2018<em>A Walk Among the Tombstones<\/em>.\u2019 This thriller collected $13.1 million at the box office. <strong>Time Warner Inc (NYSE:TWX)<\/strong>\u2019s \u2018<em>This Is Where I Leave You\u2019<\/em> was at the third position with a collection of $11.9 million on the weekend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Teen Dystopia Films Gaining Attention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The films focusing on the teen dystopia started gaining attention in 2012 with \u2018The Hunger Games\u2019 of <strong>Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (USA) (NYSE:LGF)<\/strong>. While the studio has followed the trend since then with \u2018Divergent\u2019 and \u2018Ender\u2019s Game,\u2019 others, such as Fox made an entry this genre recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this regard, <strong>Rentrak Corporation (NASDAQ:RENT)<\/strong>\u2019s senior media analyst, <em>Paul Dergarabedian<\/em> says that they should be glad at Fox because having an opening of $32.5 million in September is strikingly good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018<em>The Maze Runner<\/em>\u2019 is based on James Dashner\u2019s novel and the plot of the story focuses on a gang of a few boys who are trapped in a glade with only maze as their exit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dergarabedian says that the decision of Fox to have the plot of a movie on popular book series was quite smart. He added that this was a gamble of Fox, which paid well because; such plots do not serve everyone equally well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tapping the younger audience for success is quite difficult, he explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Business of Hollywood over the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Maze Runner was expected to gross a total of $37 million on its debut, as per the BoxOffice.com. The budget of this flick was $34 million. Over the year, the weekend sales have increased 30% for top 10 films.
